Radio: Advertising Sales Executive, World Radio Switzerland

$

0
World Radio Switzerland (WRS) is expanding its commercial operation and we are looking for the UK’s best radio sales talent to come and join us to help drive our business forward.

WRS is Geneva’s only English language radio station, serving the huge Expat population, the international English-speaking business community (think UN, CERN, WHO etc) and those local Swiss residents simply looking to improve their English.

Our proposition is truly unique, and is enormously attractive commercially. Oh, and did we mention that we are based in Geneva, one of the most beautiful places in the world and just a short flight from the UK? But why would you go back, when you could be ski-ing or hiking in the Alps at the weekends? Or simply gorging on cheese and chocolate?!

And with a starting salary of around CHF 60,000 (go on, check out what this converts to today in Pounds Sterling by clicking here) why wouldn’t you want to apply?

MANAGING DIRECTOR
THE RADIO INDEPENDENTS GROUP
The Radio Independents Group (RIG) is seeking a Managing Director to lead the development of the organisation. The contract will initially be for 2 days a week with regular meetings in the London area. Candidates will have experience at an appropriately senior level in the industry and will be able to demonstrate real vision about the opportunities available to RIG members.

OVERVIEW

The Independent Radio Production sector was established just over 20 years ago. It supplies thousands of hours a year of audio-based content to the BBC - where up to 20% of output is available – as well as commercial radio and commercial brands.

The Radio Independents Group was established almost 10 years ago and represents around 100 companies of various sizes specialising in audio-based content, spread across the UK. The organisation has an increasingly strong and respected profile in the media, as well as in Government and Parliament. At this stage it provides the day-to-day services associated with a trade body, including successfully negotiating terms of trade and taking steps to grow the market, both at a national and international level.

ROLE

The RIG MD will ensure the organisation acts effectively and efficiently on behalf of all members regardless of operational size. They will represent the sector to a range of people from broadcasters to government, to listeners.

Supported by the RIG board they will :

• Negotiate on the behalf of the sector on terms of trade and other working practices with the BBC and commercial operators.
• Represent the organisation at meetings, events and workshops, including making presentations to senior industry figures.
• •Work with production companies that vary greatly in size, specialism and location across the UK and beyond.
• Work with the organisation's Administrator to ensure that all members have a swift and effective response to any communications.

• Manage and co-ordinate the activity of the RIG Board and sub-committees.
• Work with the Finance Group to deliver the organisation’s budget.
• Work with the Events Group to deliver the RIG events programme.
• Work with the Communications Group, including RIG’s Public Affairs / Comms adviser to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including Government, Parliament and the media.

• The ability to build and maintain positive personal relationships at a senior level.
• Understanding of the challenges that face SMEs.
• Background in legal or business and / or negotiation.
• Good IT skills.
• Fully conversant with social media.
