0
INRIX media the UK's leading provider of traffic and travel information to the BBC, commercial radio and television, has two opportunities to join their northern team based in Altrincham.

Fixed Hours Broadcasters

You would be responsible for providing live and pre-recorded travel bulletins to radio clients, and assist our information operators in collating traffic and travel information to update our custom database. The ability to present articulately and confidently is a must, whilst an excellent knowledge of roads across the North would be an advantage. We are looking for broadcasters who can cope with the demands of creating consistently excellent bulletins for some of the most successful radio stations in the country.

You may:
•be in the radio industry already and looking for a change of scenery, or maybe a new challenge in a different environment
•have broadcast experience in student, hospital or community radio, and want to take the next step into becoming a professional broadcaster
Our employees range from university graduates to seasoned radio professionals and many combine working for us with other roles within the radio or other industries. There are very few places where you can be broadcasting to Merseyside one minute and Newcastle the next, and because of the nature of our work, no two days are the same! As well as the media, our traffic data is supplied to websites, sat navs and smart phone apps. INRIX is an internationally successful company and provides its employees with resources that are second to none. One thing you will immediately notice is that we are a close-knit team and work in a professional yet friendly environment.

The shifts:

There are two positions available; please indicate in your application which shift, or combination of shifts, you would like to be considered for. In addition to the hours listed below, opportunities for overtime on other days may also be available.

Position 1: Saturday 0700-1400 (7 hours per week). Ref MAN192 (Please note this shift becomes 0700-1200 in the summer months (approx. May-August)

Position 2: Sunday 0700-1400 (7 hours per week). Ref. MAN587

Submit your demo:
You must submit a short audio demo of you reading a travel bulletin to support your application, which you must record using INRIX information (the same information that our current broadcasters use). Click here to see a sample of our information; please choose 2-3 incidents to include and ensure you ‘talk around’ the information – we need to hear that it is adlibbed rather than scripted.
To submit your demo, please upload it to SoundCloud, Dropbox or Audioboo, then copy and paste the link into the MP3 attachment box in the application screen.

Closing date: Wednesday 19th March

We look forward to hearing from you. All applications will be treated equally regardless of age, marital

Newspapers: Reporter, kable government computing - Progressive Digital Media - England

$

Do you have an interest in IT? A passion for the public sector: Whitehall, local government, the NHS or the emergency services? And the ability to report on it?

The last four years of Coalition government and the austerity it has overseen has provided the backdrop for a feast of stories about the public sector’s use of IT, the drivers behind it, how it procures that IT, and its use of data.

From Whitehall departments’ procurement of technology and the impact of frameworks such as G-Cloud to the future of the Universal Credit benefits project; from the journey towards a paperless NHS to IT’s pioneering role in local government transformation,  make no mistake, this is a news-rich sector.

Government Computing, owned by the highly respected and market-leading Kable analysis organisation, is looking for an ambitious reporter with the drive and ambition to help us tell the ongoing story of how the public sector is utilising IT. The next 18 months will be a fascinating time in the run up to and after the next General Election, at a time when longstanding government IT contracts run out.

The best candidate may be early in their journalistic career, but will still have an already-developed skill in writing news and features for an online audience, with a flair for using social media to track news and make and develop contacts. You will be ambitious, enthusiastic, and accurate with an interest in IT and government and with a willingness and drive to put in the hours to develop new contacts in government, such as attending evening ‘teacamp’ meetings. You’ll also be a team player, able to work closely with and publish for a highly knowledgeable group of Kable analysts.  An interest in government and politics would be an advantage.

Within 15 months, you should expect to have gained sufficient trust to accept extra editorial responsibility for both the Government Computing and the Kable platforms.

How to apply

Think this is a job for you? If so, either click the "apply online" button below or email your CV to David Bicknell, Editor, Government Computing – david.bicknell@kable.co.uk stating your journalistic experience and detailing why you are the best person for the job.

This role is primarily based in our London offices in Blackfriars, but the flexibility to occasionally work off-site – for example at conferences - will also be expected.
